Chánh Bá Nguyễn - President

Born in Huế, VN, grew up in upstate New York and graduated with a BS in Computer Science from SUNY at Buffalo. After graduation he had migrated to the Triangle NC area, and currently working as a Software Engineer for over 28 years.

Chánh and his family are members of the Hùng Vương Taekwondo & Việt Ngữ family working to preserve the Vietnamese language and culture in their children. He had previously volunteered with the Vạn Hạnh Vietnamese Language School, and Trúc Xanh Vietnamese Language Classes. Occasionally helped out with VAAR's events starting in the late '90s to the early 2000s. Being a "Boat people" refugee himself who fled Vietnam by a small bamboo fishing boat following the end of the Vietnam War in 1975 he understands the importance of preserving Vietnamese culture and history within the community and passing it on to future generations.

Back in the summer of 2016 Chánh started to serve on VAAR's Board of Directors until their term ended in 2019. He had continued to take on different roles in the Tết Organizing Committee to carry out VAAR's events for the following 5 years. In the summer of 2024 he was called upon and voted in to take on more responsibilities, and to set up the new VAAR's Board of Directors to carry the community forward for the 2024 - 2027 years term.

Chánh resides in Apex with his wife and 3 daughters ranging from high school to college graduate. Enjoys the outdoors, biking, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, camping.
